Sellers can only accept payments inside the app through one of two in-app methods available: Classic Payments or Depop Wallet Payments. To find out which one is available to you, go to Profile > My Account > Settings > Selling > Billing.
Accepting payments through alternative methods, such as bank transfers, direct PayPal payments, PayPal Friends & Family, concealed cash, etc., is unsafe, and for this reason are not allowed under our Terms of Service. Accepting payments outside of Depop may lead to the permanent suspension of your account.
Depop Classic Payments require a PayPal account to be linked to your Depop account. (Click here to learn how to connect accounts.) When you make a sale, we will transfer the money from your buyer directly into the PayPal account you've connected to Depop. You can leave the money there to use for future PayPal transactions or you can transfer it to your bank account.
If you sold an item and can't see the payment in your PayPal account, this could be due to a few reasons:
1. The payment is sitting uncleared in your PayPal account. This normally happens when your PayPal account needs verification, and means you need to provide PayPal with more account details, specifically your banking account.
2. The payment hasn't cleared yet. This happens when the buyer pays via credit card, which PayPal treats as an 'eCheque'. eCheques usually take longer to clear than direct PayPal payments, so please allow 7-10 business days for this to clear. If you're not sure what method your buyer checked out with, feel free to send them a friendly message and ask.
3. The user has intentionally cancelled the payment through their PayPal account after completing the transaction on Depop. If this is the case, our Community Support team is here to help: email@example.com.
Please note: shipping your item(s) before the funds have cleared will void your Seller Protection, so always wait until the funds have cleared in your account before sending off your item.
Depop Wallet Payments
Depop Wallet is a secure space inside the Depop app to manage your money. You can transfer funds from Depop Wallet to your bank account at no charge. Depop Wallet is our own payments platform which was offered to some UK users between November 2015 and October 2016. Although we no longer offer this payments service to any new UK users, we will continue to support all current Wallet users with any issues they may have at firstname.lastname@example.org.
